The 2nd official entry into "The Live Sessions" with Use Me by Bill Withers! (Hopefully this is finally the start of me posting videos weekly!) Stay tuned for more live sessions throughout the year! sentimental story time: It took me a year to finally make this video. I have HOURS of videos of me singing my favorite songs, playing with runs, finding different vocal placements, creating performances, etc, but I rarely get to the point of producing actual realized videos. Sometimes, it takes time to trust in yourself and have the courage to do the things you love that you've talked yourself out of because of fear or because of other people's words/opinions. I had to start the journey of learning to believe in myself again and start replacing the negative thoughts about my singing that occupied space in my head for SO LONG with positivity. In art (dancing, acting, and singing) I make mistakes, but I know they don't define me and that growth is constant! So, keep going y'all. Background Vocal Arrangement by Emmanuel Kikoni Instrumental Produced by Emmanuel Kikoni This video has LITERALLY been 5 1/2 years in the making (I recorded my vocals in and created the concept for the video in 2020). I wanted to make sure I released it before 2025 was over, since this year marks the 10-year anniversary of Hamilton premiering on Broadway! This show literally changed my life when I was just a teenager in high school and opened my mind up to much more than I perceived musical theatre was. Because of Hamilton, I've been inspired to perform, write, and produce musical theatre works that are grounded in hip-hop/R&B, genres that I've admired since I was a kid. I hope you enjoy!
